Dalton, GA (01/16/2025) — Dalton State College and Catoosa County Public Schools (CCPS) are excited to announce a new partnership aimed at enhancing the region's teacher workforce pipeline.

Under the new partnership, all Dalton State education majors from Catoosa County are guaranteed student teacher placement within CCPS and all qualified graduates of Dalton State's School of Education who are from Catoosa County will be guaranteed an interview with CCPS, ensuring a seamless transition from graduating to entering the job market.

"Today's landscape for recruiting teacher candidates is highly competitive, and partnerships like this are vital. By enhancing our teacher workforce pipeline and creating a streamlined process for our students, we are not only improving the quality of education but also ensuring that our region benefits from having highly qualified and dedicated teachers," said John Fuchko, president of Dalton State.

"Catoosa County Public Schools is excited to partner with Dalton State College, home to an exceptional teacher preparation program. This collaboration represents an exciting opportunity to strengthen our commitment to educational excellence," said Chance Nix, superintendent of CCPS.

The partnership between Dalton State and CCPS highlights a shared mission to encourage college students to consider the profession of teaching and highlight the benefits of selecting an institution as exemplary as Dalton State to prepare them for their teaching careers.

The partnership also seeks to retain the regional workforce by providing qualified teachers with local job opportunities that offer competitive pay and benefits. Under the agreement, CCPS will continue to offer a competitive salary and benefits package to all new teachers, helping to ensure the best talent is attracted and retained.

"This initiative underscores the shared commitment of Dalton State and CCPS to education and community development," said Sharon Hixon, dean of the Dalton State School of Education. "We look forward to deepening our partnership with CCPS through this endeavor that benefits our future teachers and the community."
